Foot operated (pedal) Vice
Foot operated (pedal) Vice
Working on his own often meant that when Lionel needed an extra pair of hands, he would have to make do.
Hence this all-metal hands-free spring-loaded vice operated with a foot pedal to hold workpieces for sawing, filing, drilling, cutting, shaping or bending etc.
It is made from welded steel box section and angle-iron.
He also found his design was much faster to operate than a conventional vice.
The front jaw stays stationary and the cantilevered back jaw clamps forward when the pedal is depressed.
The grip strength of his design is twice the operator's weight.
The foot pedal is wide enough to be operated by either the left or right foot and the base is secure and rigid as the weight of the operator holds it in place (as well as clamping the jaws of the vice).
