Chain-saw Sharpening Vice

 Chain-saw Sharpening Vice
This well-used Chain-saw Sharpening Vice was made from an 18-inch section cut from an old hardwood railway (railroad) sleeper.

Other offcuts were assembled to form a clamp to hold the chainsaw blade in place allowing the chain to be rotated by hand to sharpen each tooth in turn. (Actually he would sharpen alternate teeth from one angle and then go around again to sharpen the teeth that he missed, filing from the other angle.)

The photo shows a 12v electric sharpener that he never got around to using as he preferred sharpening his chainsaw by hand using a taperless rat-tail file.
